Background

Brett Malinowski is the founder and editor of The NFT Academy. He is CEO of WGMI Media and the creator of The Brett Way on YouTube, a channel about internet business that has passed 500,000 subscribers.

Since 2022 he has hosted the WGMI Podcast, interviewing founders, operators and creators about how internet businesses actually make money. Before that he built and ran a creator-focused business that passed $1 million in revenue. He also works in marketing at Whop.

Why this site exists

NFTs are one of the few subjects where the honest explanation and the popular explanation diverged completely. The technology is genuinely interesting and mostly straightforward. The investment story built on top of it was oversold, and a lot of people lost money learning that the hard way.

Almost every site reviewing NFT courses is paid per click and none of them publish how they rank. This one does, which is the whole point. The courses are ordered by a rating weighted for review volume, the formula is written out on the about page, and courses with too few reviews to judge are labelled rather than quietly promoted.

What he is accountable for

Everything published here, including the parts that cost money. If a course ranking is wrong, a marketplace fee is out of date, or a calculator returns a figure that does not add up, that is a problem worth hearing about. Corrections go here and get made.

Does Brett write every guide on this site?

He edits all of them and is accountable for what they say. The guides are researched against primary sources, and each one lists those sources at the bottom so you can check the claims rather than take anyone’s word for them. Corrections go to the contact page and are genuinely welcome.

Is he an NFT or crypto expert?

His background is internet business and the creator economy, not cryptography or tax law. That is why this site publishes its method rather than asking you to trust a title: course rankings use a stated formula, guides cite their sources, and the tax guide tells you to get professional help rather than pretending to replace it.

Does he own the courses reviewed here?

No. Every course reviewed on this site belongs to an unrelated third-party instructor on Udemy. Nothing is sold from this site directly. Some course links earn affiliate commission, which the disclosure page explains in full.
